The city police department received a report.

It was about a suicide attempt by jumping from a building.

The police responded at the fastest speed. Sirens tore through the campus as they rushed all the way to the teaching building.

After arriving at the scene, everyone looked up and saw a person standing on the edge of the rooftop, swaying as if about to fall. The team leader did not dare delay. Without a word, he immediately began directing his officers to set up safety cushions below.

But the teaching building was seven stories tall. Including the rooftop level, it reached a full eight stories.

At that height, if someone really jumped, even with the cushions fully laid out, it would likely not be enough to save their life.

The best option was still to talk the person down.

The team leader coordinated from below and gave a low, firm order for one officer to lead a team upstairs to calm the person, while both sides worked simultaneously.

Every second counted.

The officer understood the urgency. After glancing at the figure on the rooftop edge, he immediately led his team upstairs.

The rooftop door was usually locked, but likely because the student had gone up to jump, it was now open.

They moved lightly and quietly. When they reached the rooftop, they saw the student standing with his back to them, alone, outside the railing, half his body suspended over the edge. It looked as though a single gust of wind could send him falling, making their scalps prickle with fear.

Seeing that he had not noticed them, the officer quickly signaled silence to the others behind him. He bent slightly and carefully edged forward step by step.

He clearly intended to approach unnoticed and grab the person.

But before he could take more than two steps, the person at the edge suddenly turned his head, as if he had eyes on his back.

The one attempting to jump was a male student. He had delicate, handsome features, but his complexion was unnaturally pale, as if he had not seen sunlight for a long time.

His expression was calm, without a trace of emotion. He was not hysterical like others who attempted suicide, nor was he shouting or crying.

Yet that very calmness made it seem even more likely that he would jump without hesitation the next second.

He looked at the officer, his voice flat, yet filled with threat.

"Don’t come any closer."

"If you come any closer, I’ll jump."

His tone was as casual as commenting on the weather, but every word carried weight.

The officer immediately stopped, not daring to take another step. He raised his hands quickly, his tone gentle and soothing.

"Okay, okay, I won’t come any closer."

"Don’t get agitated. Hold onto the railing tightly."

The officer’s eyes were filled with tension and caution. Even his voice softened, afraid that a single wrong word might trigger the student.

"Student, whatever problems or difficulties you have, we can talk it through."

"We know you’ve been wronged, or maybe you’ve run into trouble. Don’t worry—if you tell us what’s going on, we will definitely help you."

"Don’t treat your life like a joke."

"I promise you, we will help you."

He emphasized again and again that they would help, forcing a gentle smile onto his face, making himself appear as non-threatening as possible. His voice was soft and calm.

"Let’s come down first, alright?"

Before the student could respond, hurried footsteps sounded from below.

The school principal had arrived.

He had rushed over as soon as he got the news, not even fully dressed, his forehead covered in cold sweat.

As soon as he stepped onto the rooftop, he heard the officer’s words. He wiped his sweat and quickly followed along, his voice urgent.

"Yes, yes!"

"Student, don’t do anything rash. Whether it’s academics or life issues, the school will stand up for you."

"Anything can be discussed."

"Come down first, alright?"

The student at the edge fell silent for a few seconds. His gaze swept over the group gathered nearby, then he spoke calmly, without hesitation.

"I want to see Wen Ruyu."

As soon as he said this, everyone present was stunned.

The principal turned to the vice principal beside him, lowering his voice.

"Who is Wen Ruyu?"

"A student at our school?"

"Is he jumping because of this Wen Ruyu?"

The vice principal was equally confused. He immediately contacted someone to check. Wen Ruyu was quite well known on campus, so it did not take long.

Within three minutes, they had a rough idea.

After ending the call, the vice principal’s expression became complicated, as if he wanted to speak but hesitated.

The principal grew impatient.

"What is it? Just say it!"

The vice principal lowered his voice.

"Wen Ruyu is the campus heartthrob. He’s very popular."

"He just officially announced his relationship on social media yesterday."

The principal froze, then instinctively glanced at the student on the rooftop.

"So Wen Ruyu bullied him?"

"No." The vice principal shook his head. "That’s what I thought at first too… but it doesn’t seem to be the case."

"This student… seems to like Wen Ruyu as well."

His expression grew even more complicated, his voice lowering.

"He probably couldn’t accept that the person he likes now has a boyfriend… couldn’t take it, so he…"

The principal: "…"

The police officer listening nearby: "…"

The air fell into a strange silence.

Love troubles.

They understood.

The principal cleared his throat and stepped forward.

"Student, feelings can’t be forced."

"He already has a partner. Even if you like him, you have to accept fate."

"Come down first. There are plenty of people in the world. You’ll definitely meet someone better—"

Before he could finish, the student interrupted him, completely justified in his tone.

"Then make him break up with his boyfriend."

Everyone: "…"

The vice principal’s mouth twitched. He quickly stepped in.

"Student, this is a personal matter. It’s not something outsiders can interfere with. We can’t force him—"

"I don’t care."

The student’s tone was stubborn and obsessive. As he spoke, he leaned backward slightly.

In an instant, most of his body hung in midair, supported only by his hands gripping the cold railing. It made everyone’s hearts leap into their throats.

"If he doesn’t come, I’ll jump."

Everyone’s faces changed instantly. The officers and school staff felt their hearts tighten, cold sweat breaking out across their backs.

"I want to see Wen Ruyu."

Hands trembling, several people reached out instinctively, speaking over each other.

"Don’t, don’t!"

"Be careful!"

"Step back inside!"

"We’ll call Wen Ruyu right now!"

"Don’t act impulsively!"

The lead officer did not dare delay. He immediately had someone find Wen Ruyu’s phone number and dialed it.

No answer.

His fingers trembled slightly from tension as he called again and again. Only on the fourth attempt was the call finally picked up.

He quickly explained the situation.

After hearing the response, he paused slightly and looked up at the student on the edge.

"Student… is your name Fu Qingfeng?"

The student paused, then nodded faintly.

The officer relayed this to the person on the phone. After receiving confirmation, he finally let out a subtle breath of relief.

He hung up and looked at the student again, forcing a reassuring expression.

"Wen Ruyu said he’s already on his way."

"Wait a little longer. Don’t get agitated. Step inside a bit."

The student paused again, then slightly pulled himself inward, no longer hanging most of his body outside. The tension in the crowd eased slightly.

Seizing the opportunity, the officer took a small step forward, his voice gentle and calm.

"Fu Qingfeng, why don’t you come down first?"

"This is very dangerous. Whatever it is, we can talk it through. Even if you want to see Wen Ruyu, you don’t need to risk your life."

"He said he’s coming, and he sounded quite anxious. It doesn’t seem like he doesn’t care about you."

"When he arrives, you can talk things out. There might be some misunderstanding."

"There’s nothing that can’t be resolved—"

The officer spoke earnestly, but the student did not respond. He frowned slightly and looked at the officer, his tone cold and direct.

"You’re too loud."

The officer fell silent immediately, looking slightly embarrassed. He stepped back without saying anything further.

The rooftop fell quiet. No one spoke. They all waited for Wen Ruyu to arrive.

On the other side.

When Wen Ruyu heard what was said on the phone, his heart skipped a beat. His pale fingers tightened around the phone.

His first thought was Fu Qingfeng.

But he quickly rejected it. Given Fu Qingfeng’s cold personality, it was unlikely he would do something so extreme.

Still, to be safe, Wen Ruyu hesitated before asking,

"The person trying to jump… is it Fu Qingfeng?"

"Yes."

Upon hearing the confirmation, Wen Ruyu’s eyes widened. His heart nearly stopped. Panic spread across his delicate face as he urgently told the driver to turn around and head back to school.

He was afraid that being even a moment late would lead to irreversible consequences.

The driver did not immediately turn the car. Instead, he glanced at Chu Junheng through the rearview mirror. Only after seeing no objection did he change direction toward the school.

Wen Ruyu was filled with anxiety. He ignored the oppressive atmosphere beside him. The moment the car stopped, he pushed the door open and ran toward the rooftop, stumbling as he went.

By the time he reached the rooftop entrance, he was already out of breath, sweat forming at his temples. He leaned weakly against the doorframe, gasping.

But he had no time to catch his breath.

His gaze swept past the officers and school staff and went straight to the edge of the rooftop, his face full of panic—

Then suddenly froze.

The panic in his eyes vanished, replaced with confusion.

This person… who was this?

The boy standing at the edge was not Fu Qingfeng, but a somewhat unfamiliar young man.

Wen Ruyu searched through the original host’s fragmented memories and finally found a vague recollection. This person was also one of the original host’s many admirers.

Because the original host had always been focused on Fu Qingfeng, he had rarely interacted with other admirers and had never paid them much attention. This person had little presence, so Wen Ruyu had not recognized him at first.

Everyone on the rooftop turned to look at Wen Ruyu the moment he entered. In the next second, everyone instinctively softened their breathing.

The young man’s figure was slender and delicate. His face was exquisitely perfect. Sweat dampened the strands of hair on his forehead, yet instead of making him look disheveled, it added a touch of chaotic beauty.

Combined with the panic from running up, the redness at the corners of his eyes and nose, and the tears welling in his eyes—

He looked fragile and heartbreakingly beautiful.

The school staff and officers understood instantly why someone would go so far as to jump for unrequited love.

With a face like that, anyone would fall for him.

At the edge, the boy’s previously indifferent eyes lit up the moment he saw Wen Ruyu, as if he had come alive.

He stared at Wen Ruyu intensely, obsession and excitement surging in his gaze. His breathing quickened.

All his previous extremity and stubbornness turned into pure fixation.

He still loved him.

Even though Wen Ruyu had burned him to death, the moment he saw him again, he still loved him uncontrollably.

He had once despised Chu Junheng for continuing to cling to Wen Ruyu after being burned to death.

But after seeing Wen Ruyu downstairs, he regretted letting Chu Junheng take the lead.

Wen Ruyu should have been his.

There were not just one of them on the rooftop.

The others with memories of their past life were there as well.

Their reactions were the same. Even though they had prepared themselves, they still could not stop themselves from being entranced.

Even their hatred seemed to fade.

The principal, already close to retirement, was the first to recover. He quickly approached Wen Ruyu, his voice gentle.

"Hello."

"You must be Wen Ruyu?"

Without waiting for an answer, he continued urgently,

"Fu Qingfeng is very unstable right now. Please try to calm him down. Don’t provoke him."

"He should listen to you."

Wen Ruyu frowned slightly at the mention of Fu Qingfeng.

This was clearly not Fu Qingfeng.

He did not want to persuade him at all.

If he had not thought it was Fu Qingfeng, he would not have come back.

Besides, he did not think this person would really jump.

Before he could speak, footsteps sounded behind him.

Chu Junheng walked in calmly.

He immediately locked onto Wen Ruyu, then glanced at the boy at the edge.

Not Fu Qingfeng?

If it was not Fu Qingfeng, then there was no threat.

Chu Junheng did not step forward. He simply stood at a distance, clearly intending to watch how Wen Ruyu handled the situation.

When the boy at the edge saw Chu Junheng, the excitement in his eyes turned dark, a flicker of killing intent passing through.

If Wen Ruyu belonged to no one, perhaps he would not have been so obsessive.

But Wen Ruyu had publicly announced his relationship with Chu Junheng.

Chu Junheng deserved to die.

He suppressed the killing intent and looked back at Wen Ruyu, his voice carrying an unusual humility.

"Wen Ruyu, break up with him and be with me, alright?"

"I really like you. Whatever he can give you, I can give you too. I can give you everything."

"Look at me, please."

His posture was extremely humble, more than in his previous life, as if begging for even a single glance.

Wen Ruyu frowned slightly, not responding immediately.

In the original host’s mind, Fu Qingfeng had always come first. Everyone else was insignificant.

He would not be swayed by this kind of threat.

Moreover, being with Chu Junheng was for Fu Qingfeng’s safety. Even if the original host were here, he would not compromise.

Seeing Wen Ruyu remain silent, the boy grew more agitated. He leaned back slightly, his tone resolute and threatening.

"If you don’t agree, I’ll jump."

The officer’s heart skipped a beat. He quickly tried to mediate.

"Fu Qingfeng, don’t get agitated. Let’s talk calmly. Wen Ruyu is already here—he clearly cares about you."

"Why don’t you come down first? Then you two can talk. There might be some misunderstanding."

But the boy ignored him completely, staring stubbornly at Wen Ruyu.

Chu Junheng stood to the side, his aura cold and dangerous, his gaze fixed on Wen Ruyu as if waiting for his decision.

Wen Ruyu’s long lashes trembled slightly. He looked at the boy and spoke calmly but firmly.

"Come down first. Jumping won’t solve anything."

"No." The boy shook his head immediately. "If you don’t agree to be with me, I won’t come down."

Wen Ruyu fell silent for a few seconds. He did not yield.

"I won’t be with you, and I won’t break up with my boyfriend."

"If you really jump, the only ones who will suffer are the people who care about you. It has nothing to do with me."

The rooftop fell silent.

No one expected Wen Ruyu to be so cold.

A faint smile tugged at Chu Junheng’s lips. The chill around him eased slightly as he looked at the boy like he was nothing more than a clown.

The officer panicked and tugged at Wen Ruyu’s sleeve, whispering urgently,

"Don’t say that—try to stabilize him first…"

But Wen Ruyu did not change his words. He looked at the boy calmly.

"I’m just stating the truth."

"You’re using your life to threaten me. That’s ridiculous. I won’t break up with my boyfriend."

Unexpectedly, the boy did not get angry.

He looked at Chu Junheng, then at Wen Ruyu. A conflicted expression appeared on his handsome face.

After several seconds of silence, he slowly spoke, shocking everyone present.

"Then let me be the third one."
