Fu Qingfeng got up early that morning. He deliberately tidied himself up neatly and put on the outfit Wen Ruyu liked the most.

He did not go to class. Instead, following the guides he had searched through late into the night, he carefully prepared a confession setup, then waited beneath the teaching building with a heart full of anticipation.

He waited for a long time before finally seeing Wen Ruyu’s figure appear.

But it was not only Wen Ruyu who appeared.

When Fu Qingfeng clearly saw the person beside Wen Ruyu, his gaze slowly lowered and landed on the hands they were holding together. The smile on his face vanished in an instant.

Several others had expressions that changed just like Fu Qingfeng’s.

They were all people who retained memories from their previous life. In their memories, they had given everything to Wen Ruyu, only to be burned to death by him in a single blaze.

Originally, in this life, they had intended to take revenge on Wen Ruyu.

But unexpectedly, they had not even been able to find him.

Since they could not find Wen Ruyu, they had planned to make a move against Fu Qingfeng first. With memories of their previous life, they were all too aware of how important Fu Qingfeng was to Wen Ruyu.

If they struck at Fu Qingfeng, Wen Ruyu would definitely suffer unbearably.

Yet before they could kill Fu Qingfeng, before they could even meet Wen Ruyu, what they received first was the official announcement of Wen Ruyu and Chu Junheng’s relationship.

Although their contact information had been deleted, others still had Wen Ruyu’s contact details. Through others, they naturally saw that relationship announcement post.

The slender, beautiful young man leaned proactively into Chu Junheng’s embrace. Though his full face could not be seen, the two stood close in an intimate, ambiguous posture, like lovers deeply in love.

They had thought that upon seeing Wen Ruyu again after being reborn, they would be unable to control their hatred.

But the moment they saw the photo, an absurd thought filled their minds.

This person was truly beautiful.

When they came back to their senses, they could not help but despise themselves. They had clearly been burned to death by this person once, yet they still thought he was beautiful.

What use was being beautiful?

He was nothing but rotten to the core.

But it had to be said—he was truly beautiful.

They lowered their eyes to look at the photo on their phones, their gazes uncontrollably settling on the young man.

The lines of his profile were clean and pale, exquisite to near perfection. Long lashes cast flickering shadows beneath his eyes. He was so beautiful it was almost impossible to describe in words.

It was just a pity that only his side profile was visible.

They subconsciously tried to recall Wen Ruyu’s full appearance, yet no matter how hard they tried, they could not piece together his frontal features. The face in their memory was blurred and indistinct, unable to form a complete outline, utterly unworthy of that half profile.

If they could see his full face, it would surely be even more beautiful.

But beautiful had nothing to do with them.

The more beautiful a person was, the more vicious their heart.

They were not fools like Chu Junheng. Burned to death once, yet after being reborn he still continued to cling to Wen Ruyu.

He had even managed to secure his position.

What was the use of securing it? The only person Wen Ruyu had ever loved was Fu Qingfeng. He was nothing more than a wild dog that could never be tamed.

No matter how well others treated him, he would never take it to heart.

In this life, they would make Wen Ruyu personally experience the despair and agony they felt when they were burned to death.

They returned to school, originally intending to find a chance to secretly kill Fu Qingfeng. Instead, they learned that Fu Qingfeng was planning to confess.

That was good news.

If Fu Qingfeng confessed to someone else, it would definitely be a huge blow to Wen Ruyu. They might not even need to act—Wen Ruyu would probably suffer to death on his own.

They immediately suppressed their desire to kill Fu Qingfeng and secretly asked his roommate for information. What they did not expect was that the person Fu Qingfeng planned to confess to was Wen Ruyu.

For a moment, they were stunned. This had not happened in the previous life.

Had Fu Qingfeng not always disliked Wen Ruyu?

Why would he confess to him?

If Fu Qingfeng truly confessed to Wen Ruyu, would Wen Ruyu not be overjoyed?

Had they been reborn just to watch Wen Ruyu be happy?

Impossible.

They would never allow the two of them to be happy.

And they would absolutely not let them be together.

But they did not stop Fu Qingfeng, because at the same time, they thought of a more vicious idea.

If Fu Qingfeng died at the very moment of his confession—if he died at the moment Wen Ruyu believed he had finally obtained him—would Wen Ruyu collapse and go mad?

They really wanted to see it.

They stood among the crowd of onlookers, a morbid excitement flashing in their eyes, anticipating that scene.

But that anticipation ended the moment they saw Wen Ruyu.

Watching the beautiful young man slowly approach, their pupils unconsciously widened, their eyes filled with stunned disbelief.

This was… Wen Ruyu?

The blurred figure in their memory overlapped with the beautiful figure before them. They widened their eyes uncontrollably. Their reason screamed at them not to forget the agony of being burned alive, yet their hearts still began to pound uncontrollably.

Even everything from the previous life became more indistinct, leaving only the beautiful figure before them and the violent pounding in their chests.

Their hearts still seemed to beat for him.

Chu Junheng naturally saw them as well, but he did not take them seriously. His gaze swept casually over them before settling directly on Fu Qingfeng.

When he saw Fu Qingfeng staring at the hands he and Wen Ruyu were holding, he deliberately wrapped an arm around Wen Ruyu’s waist and pulled him closer into his embrace. Their posture was incomparably intimate, and the possessiveness and dominance in his eyes were undisguised.

It was an open declaration of ownership.

The roses in Fu Qingfeng’s arms trembled slightly. The anticipation in his eyes had long since sunk away, replaced by disbelief and bitterness.

Wen Ruyu’s delicate face had already turned a few shades paler when he saw Fu Qingfeng. His beautiful eyes were filled with fragility and confusion. When Fu Qingfeng looked at him, he instinctively tried to pull away from Chu Junheng, but Chu Junheng held him firmly in his arms, leaving no room to break free.

Chu Junheng even shot him a subtle glance.

That glance was filled with cold warning.

Only then did Wen Ruyu seem to react. In the end, pale-faced, he lowered his head without saying a word, avoiding Fu Qingfeng’s gaze.

Fu Qingfeng, who had been waiting for an explanation, felt his heart clench as if seized by an invisible hand, so tight he could barely breathe.

He walked forward step by step, his voice hoarse beyond recognition.

"Wen Ruyu…"

Wen Ruyu’s slender body trembled again, but he did not raise his head, as though avoiding something.

Chu Junheng cast Fu Qingfeng a cold glance and pulled Wen Ruyu half a step back. His tone was languid but laced with warning.

"Student Fu, please stay away from my boyfriend."

The word boyfriend struck Fu Qingfeng’s heart like a massive stone, halting his steps.

He could not believe his ears. He stood there, staring at Wen Ruyu, disbelief and hurt filling his eyes.

"You… are together with him?"

Wen Ruyu’s fingers clenched tightly within his sleeves, pressing so hard his palm began to ache. Still, he hardened his heart and nodded lightly, his voice faint as if it could barely be heard.

"Yes."

"Then I…" Fu Qingfeng’s Adam’s apple bobbed. His voice was terribly dry as he unconsciously took a step forward, his gaze fixed stubbornly on Wen Ruyu.

He wanted to ask—then what about him?

What was he?

What did all those years of entanglement mean?

At the beginning, it had been Wen Ruyu who refused to let him go.

It had been Wen Ruyu who forcibly inserted himself into his life.

It had been Wen Ruyu who turned him into what he was now.

Why treat him like this?

Seeing Fu Qingfeng’s fragile state, Chu Junheng curved his lips into a cold, condescending smile. He lowered his head to look at the person beside him, his tone lazy yet dangerous.

"Boyfriend, aren’t you going to introduce me to your friend?"

Wen Ruyu stiffened. He parted his lips slightly but could not utter a single word.

Fu Qingfeng did not notice Wen Ruyu’s stiffness. Seeing their intimate closeness, then looking at the roses in his own arms, he felt they were unbearably glaring and ironic.

And ridiculous.

He took a deep breath, forcefully suppressing the surge of pain in his chest, his gaze still fixed stubbornly on Wen Ruyu’s face.

"I… want to tell you something."

Wen Ruyu’s fingers curled tighter. He spoke faintly, his voice cold and devoid of emotion.

"No need."

"I don’t want to hear it."

"I like you."

Fu Qingfeng blurted it out almost without thinking. The three words fell clearly into the air, carrying a resolute seriousness.

"Wen Ruyu, I like you."

"It’s not a momentary impulse. I’ve thought it through. I want to be with you."

Upon hearing his words, Wen Ruyu suddenly lifted his eyes to look at him, shock filling his beautiful gaze.

But it was quickly covered by lifeless stillness.

The smile on Chu Junheng’s face vanished completely. The air around him turned frighteningly cold. His arm around Wen Ruyu’s waist tightened abruptly, so forceful that it nearly hurt Wen Ruyu.

He looked at Fu Qingfeng, his eyes dark and terrifying, his tone brimming with undisguised hostility.

"Fu Qingfeng."

"Do you think I’m dead?"

"You’re confessing to my boyfriend in front of me?"

Fu Qingfeng met his gaze without retreating.

"I’m talking to him. It has nothing to do with you."

"He’s my boyfriend. It has everything to do with me." Chu Junheng stepped forward, shielding Wen Ruyu behind him, looking down at Fu Qingfeng.

"This is the last warning. Stay away from him."

Fu Qingfeng still refused to step back. His gaze passed over Chu Junheng, locking onto Wen Ruyu behind him, waiting stubbornly for an answer.

Wen Ruyu closed his eyes briefly. When he spoke, his voice was faint.

"Sorry."

"I already have a boyfriend."

Fu Qingfeng’s throat tightened. His voice trembled faintly.

"Wen Ruyu, tell me. Are you doing this willingly?"

"Did he force you?"

Wen Ruyu closed his eyes again. When he opened them, only determination remained.

"I’m doing this willingly."

"In the future, don’t come looking for me again."

Fu Qingfeng stood there, feeling as if all the strength had been drained from his body. Looking at Wen Ruyu’s indifferent profile, his heart clenched painfully, so tight he could barely breathe.

Chu Junheng did not bother to look at Fu Qingfeng again. He lowered his head and took Wen Ruyu’s hand, his tone firm and unquestionable.

"Let’s go."

Wen Ruyu did not resist, allowing himself to be led forward like a puppet on strings.

As they brushed past each other, he did not dare look into Fu Qingfeng’s eyes, nor at him at all.

After they got into the Chu family’s private car, Wen Ruyu finally tugged lightly at his hand, his voice hoarse.

"Let go of me."

Instead of releasing him, Chu Junheng tightened his grip and leaned close to his ear, his voice low and dangerous.

"What?"

"Does it hurt to see him like that?"

Wen Ruyu pressed his lips together in silence. His face was frighteningly pale, his beautiful eyes empty of their usual expression, his whole person looking fragile and lost.

Seeing him like this only deepened the hostility in Chu Junheng’s heart, yet he was unwilling to push him too hard. He could only say coldly,

"Remember what you promised me. You are not allowed to have any more involvement with him."

"Otherwise, I can’t guarantee what I’ll do."

Wen Ruyu gave a soft "Mm," barely audible.

As the car sped steadily down the road, Wen Ruyu’s phone suddenly rang, breaking the oppressive silence.

He glanced at the screen. Chu Junheng also glanced sideways. It was an unfamiliar number.

"Probably a harassment call," Chu Junheng said lightly, irritation lacing his tone.

Although Wen Ruyu did not believe it was harassment, he had no intention of answering. It was very likely someone the original host knew.

Perhaps their contact information had been blocked, so they changed numbers to call.

Unexpectedly, even after he hung up three or four times, the call continued persistently.

As if it would not stop until he answered.

Chu Junheng’s gaze darkened, something thick and ominous rolling in his eyes. He uttered a single word, slow and dangerous.

"Answer."

Wen Ruyu paused, then pressed the answer button.

A serious, low male voice immediately came from the other end, carrying official politeness and gravity.

"Hello. Is this Student Wen Ruyu? Could you please come to the school immediately?"

"This is the city police department. A student here is emotionally agitated because of you and is currently standing at the edge of the rooftop, threatening to jump."

"He specifically requested to see you. We hope you can come and try to persuade him."
